Title

RESOLUTION APPROVING DEDA RESOLUTION 20D-73 AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH JAMAR COMPANY FOR MAINTENANCE OF THE MAINTENANCE OVERHAUL AND REPAIR FACILITY.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that pursuant to resolution 10-0229, the City Council approves DEDA resolution No. 20D-73 authorizing an agreement with Jamar Company for facilities service and maintenance of the Maintenance, Overhaul and Repair (MRO) facility at Duluth International Airport in the amount of $110,000.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to approve an agreement between DEDA and Jamar Company for facilities services and maintenance of the MRO building at the Duluth Airport.

DEDA became the owner of the MRO facility as a result of the bankruptcy of Northwest Airlines. From about 2012 until this summer, the facility had been leased and maintained by AAR, but when AAR terminated their lease and left the building vacant, it became necessary for DEDA to again assume the obligations of maintaining the structure until another tenant can be found. DEDA determined to contract with Jamar Company because the building is exceedingly complicated to maintain and because Jamar Company have on its staff the one person in the area who is knowledgeable about the intricacies of it.

On October 28, 2020, DEDA approved this agreement.
