RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A TWENTY-YEAR TRAIL AUTHORIZATION WITH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MINNESOTA FOR USE OF CERTAIN TAX-FORFEITED PARCELS FOR A NON-MOTORIZED BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN TRANSPORTATION CORRIDOR TO BE USED IN CONNECTION WITH THE CROSS CITY TRAIL, AT NO COST TO THE CITY.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a twenty-year trail authorization with St. Louis County, Minnesota, substantially in the form as the agreement attached as Exhibit 1, to use certain tax-forfeited parcels for a non-motorized bicycle and pedestrian transportation corridor to be used in connection with the Cross City Trail, at no cost to the City.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a trail authorization with St. Louis County, Minnesota to use certain tax-forfeited parcels for a non-motorized bicycle and pedestrian transportation corridor to be used in connection with the Cross City Trail, at no cost to the City.
This agreement allows the city to construct, maintain and operate a portion of the Cross City Trail between 57th and 59th Avenues West. The specific location is depicted in green shading on the map attached as Exhibit A to Exhibit 1.
The City intends to acquire the parcels highlighted in green on Exhibit A attached to Exhibit 1, but cannot finalize the transaction before construction of this phase of the Cross City Trail. The best way to allow for immediate use of the parcels in advance of ownership is through this trail authorization.
