RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A TWO-MONTH WAIVER OF RENT TO ARROWHEAD YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION FOR THE WHEELER FIELDHOUSE LEASE AGREEMENT.

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, on or about March 5, 2018, the City entered into an agreement with Arrowhead Youth Soccer Association (“AYSA”) for the lease of space with the Wheeler Fieldhouse to house AYSA’s administrative office of the operation of its youth soccer program (City Contract No. 23416) (the “Lease”);
WHEREAS, the Lease was approved by the city council on February 26, 2018 under Resolution No. 18-0099;
WHEREAS, the current monthly rate for the Lease is $173.89;
WHEREAS, due to unforeseen circumstances related to COVID-19 and in accordance with the Minnesota Governor Walz’s Emergency Executive Order 20-20, the City instituted a City-wide public closure of City-owned buildings with an effective date of March 18, 2020 (the “Closure”); and
WHEREAS, the Closure included the Wheeler Fieldhouse and AYSA’s use of the Wheeler Fieldhouse was temporarily disrupted;
WHEREAS, the City has granted rent credits or rent waivers to other organizations due to the Closure and desires to grant a two-month waiver of rent to AYSA for the Lease.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to provide a two-month wavier of rent for the Lease to AYSA in the amount of $347.78.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a two-month waiver of rent to Arrowhead Youth Soccer Association for its lease of space in the Wheeler Fieldhouse to compensate for the two month period at the height of the pandemic when a City-imposed facility closure eliminated AYSA access to the leased space. All other provisions in the original lease agreement remain in full force and effect through its original term, which ends on December 31, 2020.
