Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This is a resolution authorizing acceptance of a grant of $50,000 from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Local Climate Action Grant Program to support installation of energy efficient heat pump water heaters at City facilities. The new equipment will be installed in up to 41 facilities with older systems and equipment that are extremely energy inefficient. Many facilities directly serve the public including fire halls, parks, and community centers.

The total estimated $210,000 cost to purchase and install the heat pump water heaters will be paid for with this $50,000 state grant, a previously awarded $144,000 federal grant, and a $16,000 contribution from the City’s sustainability fund.
