CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a construction contract with Leitner-Poma of America, Inc. for the installation of a new aerial ski lift at the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area as identified in the attached Exhibit A, for a total amount not to exceed $3,417,190, payable from fund 437-030-5520 (Spirit Mtn capital improvements, Finance, buildings and structures).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an agreement with Leitner-Poma of America, Inc. for the installation of a new aerial ski lift at the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area in an amount not to exceed $3,417,190. These services include the removal of the existing lift equipment and structures, site engineering, manufacture and install of new aerial ski lift equipment and structures, all electrical work needed to operate the lift system, and commissioning of lift. The new lift will replace two existing chairlifts - Gandy and Summit - both of which are 50 years old.
The project is part of the $26 million Spirit Mountain Infrastructure Renewal Project funded in part by a $13 million appropriation from the State of Minnesota General Fund. The total cost of the lift replacement project is anticipated to be approximately $4 million. The remaining $22 million will be prioritized for renovation of the upper Spirit Mountain chalet.
With the authorization of the City Administrator, City Purchasing staff issued a best value procurement solicitation and received three proposals. Proposals were evaluated and scored as listed below and Leitner-Poma is being recommended for award.
