Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This new classification has been created to more accurately describe the clerical support staff in the public works & utilities department.  Currently, the clerical staff are part of a citywide administrative support pool that has a very general job description.  The clerical staff at public works & utilities are required to be extremely knowledgeable regarding utility services policies and procedures and are often the first point of contact for emergency gas, sewer, water, and carbon monoxide calls.  The staff exercises independent judgment and executes the proper emergency protocols.  The clerical staff deals with a high volume of customers and have highly detailed work calculating, balancing, reconciling, and posting accurate utility billing and payment data to financial records and utility customer accounts.  The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range129, $3,636 to $4,267 per month.
