CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Parsons Electric, LLC for the fiber optic connection along Lake Avenue to the Aerial Lift Bridge for a total amount not to exceed $243,038, payable as follows:
$139,471.54 210-030-3203-5580 (special projects, Finance, 2019 Port Security Grant Program, capital equipment)
$103,566.46 250-015-2019-5580, CE250-E1906 (capital equipment, Public Administration, fiscal year 2019; police RMS system)
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Parsons Electric, LLC, in the amount of $243,038 for fiber optic interconnect along Lake Avenue from the intersection of Railroad Street and Canal Park Drive to and across the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. This project will provide wired network connectivity to traffic signals in Canal Park, the pilot house operating the bridge, and several port security and safety cameras on the bridge. In addition, it will provide wireless network broadcasting for several network-connected devices across the City.
The project is funded in part by the 2019 Port Security Grant.
Purchasing issued an Invitation to Bid on October 2, 2020, and received two bids as listed below. Parsons Electric, LLC, submitted the lowest responsive bid.
