RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT L31116 WITH BRUNTON ARCHITECTS FOR ADDITIONAL FIRE DEPARTMENT FACILITY PLANNING SERVICES, FOR AN INCREASE OF $26,440.00 AND A NEW TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $109,346.00.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to amend agreement L31116 with Brunton Architects for professional facility planning services to further assess and evaluate the conditions and requirements of the Duluth Fire Department buildings as detailed in the attached proposal as Exhibit A, and to increase the amount by $26,440.00 for a new total amount not to exceed $109,346.00, payable from fund 450-030-5520-CP2021-2104b (capital improvements, finance, buildings & structures, 2021 capital improvement projects, firehall improvements).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution amends an agreement with Brunton Architects for further evaluation of Duluth Fire Department facilities through GIS analysis of locations, response times, service area coverage and gaps. These findings will accompany reports previously completed of existing building conditions, deferred maintenance, and requirements, and will enhance the determination of capital improvement priorities across the fire halls and operational needs.

The original facility planning study and these additional services are funded through the City’s capital improvement budget specified for fire hall improvements.
