RESOLUTION APPROVING DULUTH TRANSIT AUTHORITY’S TEMPORARY SETTING A NO COST FARE FOR ALL ROUTES DUE TO COVID-19.

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, effective March 18, 2020 the Duluth Transit Authority reduced all transit fares to zero to help the local community respond to the mandated closings of businesses, schools, and other community locations due to COVID-19;
WHEREAS, the city council held a public hearing on the proposed fare changes on April 13, 2020.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the council hereby approves the temporary setting of no fare for all DTA transit.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to comply with Minn. Stat. 458A.26(g)(“no change in fares shall be made except upon public hearing before the city council, and approval by the city council, of any such change in fares”) by approving the no cost fare for all routes effective March 18, 2020.
