RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR SERVICES WITH THE LAKE SUPERIOR YMCA FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $106,036.95 FOR LIFEGUARDING SERVICES PROVIDED AT THE CITY’S PARK POINT BEACH HOUSE AND RECREATION AREA DURING THE 2026 OPERATING SEASON.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a contract for services with the Lake Superior YMCA, substantially the same as the agreement attached as Exhibit A, for lifeguarding services to be provided at Park Point beach house and recreation area, located at 5000 Minnesota Avenue. Lifeguard services, in amount not to exceed $106,036.95, shall be payable from Fund 205-130-1220-5310-CM205-PRGRMG-BCHSAF (Parks Fund-Community Resources-Parks Capital-Contract Services-Capital Maintenance Fund 205-Parks Programming Grants-Beach Safety).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes a contract for services for lifeguarding with the Lake Superior YMCA (“YMCA”) for the Park Point beach house and recreation area (“Beach House”) during the 2026 operating season, for an amount not to exceed $106,036.95. Under the terms of the agreement, the YMCA will provide lifeguard services between Memorial Day and Labor Day. In addition to lifeguarding services, the YMCA will make restrooms at the Beach House open to the public during public days and times. In consideration for these services, the City will pay up to $106,036.95 to the YMCA from 2026 Tourism Tax funds awarded to Parks and Recreation for Beach Safety.
