CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Northland Constructors of Duluth, Inc., for the construction of the Zenith Building steam to hot water conversion project in an amount not to exceed $173,430, payable from fund 540-920-1499-5530 (steam, Steam Department, steam non-operating, improvements other than buildings).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Northland Constructors of Duluth, Inc. for the construction of the Zenith Building steam to hot water conversion project for an amount not to exceed $173,430.
Duluth Energy Systems is undergoing the conversion of downtown buildings from a steam-based district energy distribution network to a hot water-based district energy network. The Zenith Building is currently being remodeled into apartments and as part of the remodel work, wish to convert the building from the current steam to the new hot water-based district energy network. This contract covers the installation of pre-insulated, thin-walled, steel hot water piping, fittings, valves, and appurtenances.
Purchasing issued an Invitation for Bids on August 10, 2023 and received one responsive bid. The bid received from Northland Constructors of Duluth, Inc. was the only responsive bid.
