Friends of the Library Report August 2026

The Friends of the Duluth Public Library’s Board met on July 21, 2026.
The Board approved a formal Gift Policy which articulates guidelines on the acceptance of gifts and provides guidance on how the Board handles incoming gifts. The Board also honored two longtime members of the Friends with lifetime memberships: June Kreutzkampf and Sharon Stuaty. June has been a Friends member for 44 years during which she logged hundreds of volunteer hours, and she previously served 14 years on the Board. Sharon was on the book sorting crew for 13 years, and from 2018 to 2024 she volunteered for 798 hours with the Friends. The Board also discussed the upcoming volunteer opportunities with the Annual Book Sale which takes place 8/25-8/27, with a members only presale day on 8/24. The Board also discussed clarifying and redefining the goals of our Membership Committee as a means to incentivize membership, coordinate volunteers, and get information about volunteer opportunities to our members in a timely manner.
