RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DULUTH FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE RESCUE MAPPING SOFTWARE NAMED SARTOPO, ALSO KNOWN AS CALTOPO.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to the Duluth Fire Department to purchase SarTopo mapping software from CalTopo in the estimated amount of $1,000 annually, payable from fund 110-150-1502-5414 (general fund, fire department, fire operations, software licenses and maintenance agreements).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the Duluth Fire Department to purchase search and rescue software to assist in the location of community members who are lost or injured on land or water. The use of the software decreases response time to the patient and allows incident commanders the ability to dispatch the correct equipment and personnel to the scene of the emergency. SARTopo also increase responder safety and decrease inefficiencies by tracking their search teams in real time. This new software will replace the departments current rescue mapping software and will offer more features and be a reduction in cost.
