RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorizing a State Contract purchase of a 2017 Freightliner 114SD Tandem chassis and cab from I-State Truck Center, State Contract 77936, in the amount of $115,072, payable as follows:
$86,304 Water Fund 510, Public Works and Utilities 500, Capital (incl deprec/debt svc) 1905, Capital Equipment 5580
$28,768 Gas Fund 520, Public Works and Utilities 500, Capital (incl deprec/debt svc) 1905, Capital Equipment 5580
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a State Contract purchase from I-State Truck Center, for a 2017 Freightliner 114SD Tandem chassis and cab, plus fees and licensing, in the amount of $115,072.
This purchase is replacing units #1720 & #1741. We have found that the 1Ton chassis is not adequate for the work our employees are performing. The GVWR is not suitable for the tools, equipment, and towing that is needed by these vehicles. We are replacing with larger chassis on any new purchases (after 2014). The potential hazards of using equipment underrated for the work can cause incidents on the road or on the job. Unit #1720 is a 2003 MY 1 Ton service truck. Fleet records show R&M costs exceeding 100% of the purchase price. Unit #1741 is a 2007 MY 1 Ton service truck with almost 50% R&M costs at this time.
This purchase is against Minnesota State Contract 77936, Release T-647(5).
