CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to enter into a contract with Northland Constructors of Duluth, a Division of Mathy Construction Company, for the Palm Street Stormwater Pond Improvements project, city project no. 2208, in the amount of $7,087,000.00, payable from 535-500-1905-5533 (Capital Storm Fund).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution will authorize the award of a contract for the construction of the Palm Street Stormwater Pond Improvement Project by Northland Constructors of Duluth, a Division of Mathy Construction Company, in the amount of $7,087,000.00. They were the lowest of four responsible bidders. The pond construction will reduce downstream flooding and extend the life of the Brewery Creek storm tunnels. The pond will be equipped with smart technology that will allow for the drawdown of the pond before storm event, allowing the pond to store larger amounts of runoff from the storm event. The pond will also remove sediment and debris from incoming storm water runoff.
A summary of the bidders for the project is attached as Exhibit A and a location map is attached as Exhibit B.
