CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the existing civil service classification of librarian II, which were approved by the civil service board on November 17, 2015, are approved. This classification shall remain subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees and compensated at Pay Range 133, $4,143 to $4,883 per month.

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The librarian II job classification was most recently revised in 2008. The primary duties of the librarian II are to provide library service to the public and develop and manage library services and staff within their designated work area. Since the last revision, there have been several minor changes to the position such as technology updates/usage and event coordination. Library management met with additional library staff including the current library II incumbents to develop the requested changes to the job description. The primary change to the job description was updating to the new job description format for uniform heading and heading item layout. This change included clarifying essential duties and first day of employment requirements within the text of the job description rather than by asterisk or symbols as on previous formats.

The remaining alterations include minor changes to remove redundancies within the description, providing uniform terminology used within the library and field, clarifying the supervisor relationship and role, updating for current use of technology within the library and language for maintaining and building positive relationships. All of the above changes were created with the assistance of librarian II incumbents and final changes have been shared.
