CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to execute a change order to contract L31025 with A.W. Kuettel & Sons, Inc for the installation of a hot water service lateral from the Amsoil Arena to the Great Lakes Aquarium, increasing the amount by $17,950.00, for a new total of $163,450.00, payable from fund 540-920-1499-5530 (steam; Steam Department; steam non-operating; improvements other than buildings).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a change order to construction contract L 31025 with A.W. Kuettel & Sons, Inc. for the installation of a hot water service lateral from the Amsoil Arena to the Great Lakes Aquarium, increasing the amount by $17,950.00 for a new total of $163,450.00.
This change order will alter the layout of the piping by offsetting it inside the building so that they stack on top of each other outside and are installed through the existing soffit area along the building and cover exposed lines on the south side of the building. This change will add insulation and jacketing for the exterior piping, will reduce installation costs as a result of avoiding significant boring through thick concrete, and will improve aesthetics in an area where high tourism traffic is anticipated.
