RESOLUTION AMENDING CITY COUNCIL STANDING RULES TO CHANGE THE START TIME OF THE REGULAR MEETINGS AND UPDATE THE NOTICE LANGUAGE AND ORDER OF BUSINESS.

BY PRESIDENT TOMANEK AND COUNCILORS FORSMAN, SWENSON AND MAYOU:
WHEREAS, Rule 1(a) of the Standing Rules requires council meetings to begin at 7:00pm;
WHEREAS, having the council meetings begin at 6:00pm would be more efficient and better accommodate the competing time constraints of councilors and city employees;
WHEREAS, the council wishes to update the notice language to comply with Minnesota law;
WHEREAS, the council wishes to update the order of business to reflect current practice; and
WHEREAS, to amend the Standing Rules, a two-thirds majority council vote is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Standing Rules are amended as reflected in the attached Document A.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution is to amend the Standing Rules to change the start time of the regular meetings and to update the notice language to incorporate Minnesota law.
