RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPROVAL AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE HILLSIDE SPORT COURT PARK PLAN.

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, the Hillside Sport Court Park Plan identifies preferred park amenities and prioritizes park improvements to best serve community needs; and
WHEREAS, on August 9, 2023, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously voted in support of the Hillside Sport Court Park Plan and moved to recommend that City Council approve the plan as presented.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper City officials hereby approve the Hillside Sport Court Park Plan, attached hereto as Exhibit A, and authorize implementation of the plan as funding allows.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the approval and implementation of the Hillside Sport Court Park Plan, as funding allows. The Plan identifies and prioritizes park improvements to best serve community needs based on information related to existing park conditions, community input, potential funding opportunities, maintenance needs, and consistency with park system’s comprehensive plan, Essential Spaces: Duluth Parks, Recreation, Open Space & Trails Plan.
The Hillside Sport Court Park Plan emphasizes improved site connectivity and accessibility, improving the existing sport court and playground, providing space for a picnic pavilion and community garden, and enhancing park infrastructure.
On August 9, 2023, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously voted in support of the Hillside Sport Court Park Plan and moved to recommend that City Council approve the plan as presented.
