RESOLUTION APPROVING A PROPERTY DEMOLITION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE DULUTH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY AND THE CITY OF DULUTH.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the city council of the city of Duluth does hereby approve, the professional services agreement with the Duluth economic development authority (DEDA), to demolish up to ten condemned properties in the western neighborhoods in Duluth, in an amount not to exceed $200,000, payable from DEDA Fund 865, Org. 8607, Object 5319.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to obtain the city council’s approval of the property demolition agreement between DEDA and the City of Duluth. DEDA approved the agreement at its October 28, 2015 meeting.
The City will work with private contractors to perform demolitions of condemned properties in the western neighborhoods in Duluth, thereby removing blight and nuisances from the neighborhoods and spurring revitalization. The properties to be demolished have been condemned by the City Building Official and have met the criteria for order of demolition in accordance with City Code, Chapter 10, Article II, Section 10-3. Properties will be assessed the cost of the demolition.
