RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AGREEMENT WITH DULUTH ART INSTITUTE, ASSN. FOR DISPLAY OF ART IN CITY HALL.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL: RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, substantially in the form of that attached hereto as exhibit A, with the Duluth Art Institute Association, a Minnesota non-profit corporation to supply and display art in the mayor’s reception room and in the rotunda of city hall.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:                     The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City of Duluth (“City”) to enter into an agreement with the Duluth Art Institute (“DAI”) to manage two rotating art exhibits within City Hall. In an effort to further engage the citizens of Duluth, to foster community-pride, and to render City Hall more accessible, inclusive and inviting, the City is partnering with the Duluth Public Arts Commission (DPAC) and DAI to curate, install and manage two rotating art exhibits containing work from local artists. One exhibit will be in the “rotunda” area in the entry/foyer accessed from Priley Drive, the second will be in the Mayor’s Reception room, replace the currently hung paintings.

Exhibits will be rotated every three months, beginning in the spring of 2018 and ending in December of 2019; DAI will submit each proposed exhibit to DPAC for review and approval. Lastly, DAI will assume responsibility and liability for all art in the exhibits and will work with the City to issue press releases and other media showcasing current and upcoming exhibits.
