CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials authorize an annual contract for class 5 gravel from Northland Constructors of Duluth, a Division of Mathy Construction, for an estimated annual amount of $335,656.00, payable from the following funds.
$78,700.00 from 110-500-1920-5224 (general; Public Works and Utilities; street maintenance; gravel & other mtce materials)
$192,717.00 from 510-500-1945-5224 (water; Public Works and Utilities; utility operations; gravel & other mtce materials)
$12,847.80 from 520-500-1945-5224 (gas; Public Works and Utilities; utility operations; gravel & other mtce materials)

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an annual contract for class 5 gravel from Northland Constructors, a Division of Mathy Construction, for an estimated annual amount of $335,656.00
The class 5 gravel will be purchased for Public Works and Utilities and Street Maintenance. Public Works uses this gravel for backfill on main breaks and new construction of water, gas sanitary and storm installations. Street Maintenance uses this gravel in support of annual road maintenance on al streets, avenues and alleys in the City. This material falls in line with the best method of practices for both summer and winter maintenance cycles.
On December 16, the Purchasing division posted an invitation to bid for various aggregates and Northland Constructors was the lowest responsive bidder on the class 5.
