CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Northland Constructors of Duluth, Inc. for the Northwest Passage Repairs and Restoration Bridge No. 69509 over I-35 in the amount of $284,200 payable out of the Permanent Improvement Fund 411, Department/Agency 035 (Capital Projects Account), Object 5530 (Improvements Other than Buildings), city project no. 2256, bid number 25-99292.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the award of a contract for the Northwest Passage Repairs and Restoration Bridge No. 69509 over I-35 to Northland Constructors of Duluth, Inc. in the amount of $284,200. This work will repair the piers and will not impact skywalk operations. Northland Constructors of Duluth, Inc. was the lowest responsible bidder of the three companies that responded. The engineer’s estimate for the project was $195,039, which was difficult to estimate given the unique scope and bid items. This pier work in the I-35 corridor must be complete before MNDOT starts a major project on May 5th. The mobilization and traffic control bid items are a significant portion of the cost because it is located within the I-35 ROW. Payable out of the Permanent Improvement Fund 411, Department/Agency 035 (Capital Projects Account), Object 5530 (Improvements Other than Buildings), city project no. 2256, bid number 25-99292.
