Friends of the Duluth Public Library Report October 2026

The Friends of the Duluth Public Library’s Board met on September 15, 2026.
The Board approved a formal gift of $25,000 to be donated to the Library. The Board also voted to donate again this year to the Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards (“NEMBA”) to help support the continued revitalization of NEMBA. It was noted that the Annual Book Sale this year was the most successful year in recent history. After successful participation in Gourd Days by working in the book cabin, the Board discussed the continued success of participating in Gourd Days and ways to make it even better in the future. The Board also, after a long transition period, voted to move the Friends’ newsletter to an electronic format. The committee handling that transition will begin collecting emails for the members from whom we have not yet secured an email address, although we will continue to mail hard copies of the newsletter to some members who we know do not have email access. The Board also began planning and looking ahead to Give to the Max Day in November and the Holiday Book Sale in December.
