RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH VARIOUS CITIES FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF FIRE FIGHTING SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that, pursuant to the authority of Minnesota Statutes Section 471.59, the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a joint powers agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A, with the Minnesota cities listed in Exhibit B, all of which are municipal corporations and subdivisions of the state of Minnesota, to allow the city to purchase fire fighting supplies and equipment through the joint powers entity.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the city to enter into a joint powers agreement with various cities in Minnesota to allow the city to purchase fire fighting supplies and equipment under contracts entered into by the member cities  on behalf of the joint powers Operating Committee. There is no cost to the city.

Minnesota Statute 471.59 permits two or more governmental units to enter into an agreement in order to jointly or cooperatively exercise any power common to the contracting parties. All contracts available to the parties to this agreement have been awarded by virtue of a public competitive procurement process compliant with Minnesota Municipal Contracting Law.
