RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT AWARD FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FROM THE FEDERAL RECREATIONAL TRAIL PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $140,625 FOR REDEVELOPMENT OF THE WEST CROSS TOWN SNOWMOBILE TRAIL.

 

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, the state received a federal award of $2,703,647 of which $140,625 was sub-awarded to the city of Duluth.

 

WHEREAS, the city of Duluth will use the sub-award to redevelop the West Cross Town Snowmobile Trail from Highway 35 to Kingsbury Creek that was damaged during the 2012 flood and abandoned.

 

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept the award from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Federal Recreational Trail Program in the amount of $140,625 for the redevelopment of the west cross town snowmobile trail attached hereto as Exhibit A, funds to be deposited to 452-030-5530-HANDHTAX-1519 (Tourism & Recreational Projects - Finance - Improvements Other than Buildings - Half & Half Tax Projects, Snowmobile Trails).

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, this grant requires a city match of $46,875, which has been secured by the federal RTP grant from 452-030-5530-HANDHTAX-1519 (Tourism & Recreational Projects - Finance - Improvements Other than Buildings - Half & Half Tax Projects, Snowmobile Trails).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes acceptance of a $140,625 grant award to redevelop the West Cross Town Snowmobile Trail from Highway 35 to Kingsbury creek. This area was damaged by the flood in 2012 and abandoned. The city will provide a match of $46,875 per grant requirements that have been secured by the 2019 federal RTP grant award.
