RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH FOR JOINT CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALK ALONG JUNCTION AVENUE, BUFFALO STREET, AND ST. MARIE STREET.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement substantially in the form as attached Exhibit 1, with the University of Minnesota Duluth for the joint construction of sidewalk facilities along Junction Avenue between College Street and Buffalo Street, Buffalo Street between College Street and St. Marie Street, and St. Marie Street between Buffalo Street and Carver Avenue; pursuant to which the City will construct the improvements and the University of Minnesota Duluth will reimburse the city for its share of costs. Such reimbursement to be payable to Fund 411, city project number 1464.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City to enter into an agreement with the University of Minnesota Duluth (“UMD”) for the joint construction of new sidewalk facilities along Junction Avenue between College Street and Buffalo Street, Buffalo Street between College Street and St. Marie Street, and St. Marie Street between Buffalo Street and Carver Avenue. This construction will be incorporated into the City’s Junction Avenue Reconditioning Project where other street improvements will also be constructed. The work requested by UMD includes sidewalks that are wider than the existing sidewalk or in locations outside of the planned scope of the City’s project.

As has been done on past joint projects, the City will contract for the construction of the project and UMD will reimburse the City for its share of the costs.
