CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that on October 10, 2022, city officials applied to the United States Department of Energy through its Community Geothermal Heating and Cooling Design and Deployment Program to establish LNPK 156 Geothermal Coalition: Designing and Deploying Clean Energy in a Justice40 Cold Climate Community that was submitted on October 10th, 2022; and

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the city was notified that it was awarded said funding for the project in the amount of $700,414; and

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept the grant from the United States Department of Energy through its Community Geothermal Heating and Cooling Design and Deployment Program to establish LNPK 156 Geothermal Coalition: Designing and Deploying Clean Energy in a Justice40 Cold Climate Community in the amount of $700,414; and

RESOLVED FURTHER, that city staff are authorized to execute such documents as are necessary to implement the grant project on behalf of the city.

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This grant application was for a federal Community Geothermal Heating and Cooling Design And Deployment Program that the City applied for in October 2022. The city grant application in the amount of $700,414; was notified of their selection to receive the award on April 25, 2023. The grant was awarded to the City, in partnership with Ever-Green Energy and Ecolibrium3, to establish the LNPK 156 Geothermal Coalition. This one-year project will devise plans to develop, design, and install a geothermal heating system that will satisfy 100% of the heating demand in a portion of Lincoln Park.
