CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a two-year contract, substantially in the form attached as Exhibit A, with Waste Management for garbage/refuse removal and recycling pickup services in accordance with city-approved specifications and vendor fees, for an estimated cost of $12,000 per month, for a total initial contract amount of $288,000, payable from various funds, departments and organizations; object 5384 (Refuse Disposal).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes a two-year contract with Waste Management for garbage/refuse removal and recycling pickup services for an estimated $12,000 per month, payable from various funds.

 

The city purchasing division, in consultation with using departments, decided not to renew contract 22718 with Waste Management due to rising costs and fees.  The trash and recycling service specifications were tightened, and bids were solicited in October.  The bid submitted by Waste Management was the lowest of the two bids that were received.
