RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF BUILDINGS & GROUNDS MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, INCLUDING A TITLE CHANGE TO PARKS & GROUNDS MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the existing civil service classification of buildings & grounds maintenance supervisor, including a title change to parks & grounds maintenance supervisor, which were approved by the civil service board on January 5, 2016, are approved; that said classification shall remain subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its supervisory unit employees, that pay range will change from Pay Range 1050-1075, $4,769 to $6,269, to Pay Range 1075-1090, $5,159 to $6,775 per month. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This existing classification was created in 2009 as part of a citywide re-organization where several units were combined to create the maintenance operations division. The position was created to supervise employees in the new buildings & grounds division unit. Since that time, the city created a property & facilities management division, which is primarily responsible for the maintenance and operations related to city-owned buildings. This job description has been revised to reflect the change in duties and to better reflect the current duties being performed. The primary changes are the elimination of building-specific maintenance language.
