CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a three year lease agreement, substantially in the form as the lease agreement attached as Exhibit A, with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Duluth Branch (NAACP), for the exclusive use of a certain space at the Washington Recreation Center for the advancement of its mission and related services to the community. Rent payments shall be payable to Fund 110, Public Administration 121, Property and Facilities Management 1222, Rent for Buildings 4622.

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the city to enter into a three year lease agreement with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Duluth Branch (NAACP), for its exclusive use of one room at the Washington Recreation Center totaling 340 square feet, for the advancement of its mission and related services to the community. NAACP provides services in the community to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.

NAACP formerly occupied space at the Central Hillside Community Center and vacated their space to accommodate the expansion of another important community partner. The City has space available for rent at the Washington Center, and NAACP is desirous of entering into a three year lease for use of the space. The agreement may be terminated by either party with 90 days' notice. For consideration of the agreement in 2016, NAACP will pay the City monthly rent of $50.00.
