Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the city council accepts Laws of Minnesota 2016, Chapter 189, Article 4, Section 22 [H.F. No.2749] repealing Special Law 1891, chapter 57, chapter XII, section 5, the law prohibiting issuance of intoxicating liquor licenses within the Lakeside and Lester Park neighborhoods.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  In an advisory referendum on November 3, 2015, the majority of Duluth voters supported the proposition that the state law prohibiting the sale of intoxicating liquor in the Lakeside and Lester Park neighborhoods be repealed. The city council included the elimination of the Lakeside and Lester Park liquor prohibition on the 2016 legislative agenda and the prohibition was repealed on June 1, 2016.
