RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT SUPERVISOR, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of construction project supervisor (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on June 7, 2016, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 1095-1105, $5,493 to $7,007 per month. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The new classification of construction project supervisor has been created to replace the essential functions of the city architect job classification. In order to effectively manage multiple concurrent facilities projects, the city’s property and facilities management function requires broader construction supervision capabilities than the city architect job description provides. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 1095-1105, $5,493 to $7,007 per month.
