RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of technology security administrator (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on May 3, 2016, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 141, $5,951 to $7,078 per month.  The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The new classification of technology security administrator has been created to ensure the secure operation of technology based data systems and maintain compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.  This position will be checking server and firewall logs, examining network traffic, establishing and updating security policies, and troubleshooting.  This position will also analyze and resolve security breaches and vulnerabilities issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and conduct user activity audits where required.  Some of these duties are currently being managed by the IT manager but there is a need to create a full time position that is dedicated to these highly important tasks.  The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 141, $5,951 to $7,078 per month.
