RESOLUTION OF INTENT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A WATER MAIN EXTENSION IN MAXWELL AVENUE FROM WEST WABASHA STREET TO 210 FEET NORTHERLY AND TO ASSESS THE COSTS THEREOF.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that pursuant to Section 62 of the City Charter, the city council hereby expresses its intent to cause the construction of a water main in Maxwell Avenue beginning at the southeast corner of West Wabasha Street and extending 210 feet northerly, and hereby requests that the mayor prepare or cause to have prepared plans, specifications and estimates therefor, and to file such plans and estimates with the special assessment board, together with a recommendation as to what portion of the costs should be paid by special assessment, the number of installments in which assessments may be paid, and the properties which should include the special assessment:

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution begins the formal process of making assessable improvements for construction of a water main extension to serve 3520 Maxwell Avenue. The extension of the Maxwell Avenue water main would benefit that property by providing a new service for a new living space, and would provide a direct connection to the city water main.
As provided for in Section 62 of the Charter, the process can be initiated either by petition or by action of the city council itself. This case is by petition by the owner of 3520 Maxwell Avenue.
As is normal, the resolution of intent is the first step in the process. Once approved it will trigger preparation of plans and specifications for the work and estimates of the costs and the assessments involved. Notices will then be sent to the affected property owners and they will be given the opportunity to be heard before the special assessment board. After the board makes its recommendations, the matter will return to the city council for consideration of an ordering-in resolution.
