RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF SENIOR ENGINEER, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of senior engineer (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on August 2, 2016, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining agreement with its supervisory unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 1105-1115, $5,949 to $7,576 per month.  The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The new classification of senior engineer has been created to allow for advancement opportunity within the engineering division at a higher supervisory level to attract highly experienced internal and external engineer candidates.  Creating this higher level position will not only help retain and attract but will reward highly experienced engineers and acknowledge the wisdom and experience required of them to perform at this level.  The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 1105-1115, $5,949 to $7,576 per month.
