RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT WITH SUPERIOR FOR EMERGENCY FIRE RESPONSE.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a mutual aid agreement with the city of Superior, Wisconsin, a copy of which is attached hereto as exhibit A, pursuant to which the fire departments of both cities commit to provide emergency response assistance to the other subject to availability with costs to the providing city being paid by the receiving city as set forth therein.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to an agreement between the city of Duluth and the city of Superior pursuant to which the fire departments of each city will provide emergency services response to the other city upon request, subject to the ability to do so without compromising their primary responsibilities to their own jurisdictions. The services are anticipated to include not only fire-related responses but also could include search and rescue, emergency materials containment and/or recovery services and other emergency services available from the providing department.
The commitment to provide services would be subject to the need for services of the providing jurisdiction and if the providing jurisdiction needed to refuse to provide assistance or even withdraw from providing services by the needs of their own jurisdiction they would be entitled to do so.
The receiving jurisdiction would be required to reasonably compensate the providing jurisdiction for the costs incurred in proving services to the providing jurisdiction.
