Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A SHORT TERM LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION FOR USE OF ITS PROPERTY TO INVESTIGATE POSSIBLE FUTURE WESTERN WATERFRONT TRAIL ALIGNMENTS.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a real estate license agreement, substantially the same as the agreement attached as Exhibit 1, with the United States Steel Corporation (“U.S. Steel”), providing for city employees and contractors to access U.S. Steel-owned property to investigate possible future walking and biking trail alignments during the period September 27 through October 31, 2016, for nominal consideration.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the city to enter into a real estate license agreement with United States Steel Corporation (“U.S. Steel”) whereby city employees and contractors can access U.S. Steel-owned property to investigate possible future Western Waterfront Trail alignments for the period September 27 through October 31, 2016.  The city would like to explore U.S. Steel-owned property to: (a) develop potential new river access node at the area known as Slag Point and (b) decide the future use of the city-owned riverfront along the U.S. Steel site with options including rail, trail, and rail with trail.  Under the terms of the agreement, U.S. Steel will grant the City access to its property for nominal consideration of $1.00.
