RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE 2012 ROAD AND BRIDGE DISASTER RELIEF BOND GRANT 1026874 AND ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE MINNESOTA STATE TRANSPORTATION FUND FOR ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGE NO. L8500 IN THE AMOUNT OF $51,038.93.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth has applied to the commissioner of transportation for a grant from the Minnesota state transportation fund for the engineering and construction of 2012 flood damages to Bridge No. L8500 on West Gate Boulevard over Keene Creek.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the grant has been approved, and that the amount of the grant is $51,038.93

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth agrees to the terms and conditions of the grant consistent with Minnesota Statutes, Section 174.50, subdivision 5, clause (3), and will pay any additional amount by which the cost exceeds the estimate, and will return to the Minnesota state transportation fund any amount appropriated for the project but not required.  The proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a grant agreement concerning the above referenced grant.  Grant monies shall be deposited into Disaster Recovery Fund 225, Department/Agency 125 (Finance), Division 1803 (Roads and Bridges), Source 4220-05 (State of Minnesota Flood Bonds), S.A.P. 118-203-003, city project no. 1244.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution will authorize a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation for a grant in the amount of $51,038.93 for the engineering and construction of Bridge No. L8500 flood repairs, S.A.P. 118-203-003.  Bids for this project were opened on March 26, 2014, and the project was awarded to Hovland, Inc. by the city council on April 14, 2014.  In accordance with the terms and conditions of the grant, the city agrees to pay any amount by which the cost exceeds the estimate.
