RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL TO DESIGNATE RILEY ROAD PROPERTY AS A CITY PARK, AND NAMING THE SITE JEAN DULUTH DOG PARK.

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, in response to a need for an off-leash dog exercise area in east Duluth, the city council approved resolution 15-0579R, which designated 3567 Riley Road as an acceptable site for a dog park; and
WHEREAS, the dog park was opened August of 2016 for use without a designated name.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council hereby permanently dedicates this property as a city park and names the site “Jean Duluth Dog Park.”
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution approves the Riley Road property as a designated city park and approves the official name as Jean Duluth Dog Park. The city of Duluth Commemorative Naming Committee provided their naming recommendation, attached hereto as exhibit A. The name was also reviewed and approved by the Duluth Parks and Recreation Commission during their meeting held on October 12, 2016.
