CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an agreement, substantially the same as the attached exhibit I, with the Duluth Transit Authority of Duluth, Minnesota (DTA) for the lease of approximately 1,219 square feet in the Duluth Transportation Center located at 228 West Michigan Street, to be used by the police department as a sub-station, at a cost of $2,400 per year for the first five-year term, funds to be payable from fund 110-160-1610-5412 (General Fund, Police Department, Administration, Building Rental).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to approve an agreement with the Duluth Transit Authority of Duluth (DTA) for the lease of space to be used by the Duluth Police Department as a sub-station. The lease is for a term of five years but does contain an option for renewal. The cost to the city will be $2,400 per year for the first five years. Police presence at the DTA will provide a sense of security and safety to DTA staff and travelers.
