RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF UTILITY SERVICES HELPER, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of utility services helper (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on November 1, 2016, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 16, $2,433 to $2,801 per month. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The new classification of utility services helper has been created to provide an entry level opportunity to assist primarily in utility services within the public works & utilities department with an increased focus on diversity and inclusion. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 16, $2,433 to $2,801 per month.
