Title

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE XXIV OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CITY CODE RELATING TO THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

The city of Duluth does ordain:

Section 1.                     That Article XXIV, Chapter 2, of the Duluth City Code, relating to the human rights commission established in 1995 is hereby repealed in its entirety.

Section 2.                     That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days from and after its passage and publication.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this ordinance is housekeeping in nature. The human rights commission created in 1995 and codified in Chapter 2 of the City Code was intended to be replaced by the human rights commission created in 2001 and codified in Chapter 29C of the Code.  The elimination of the original 1995 commission was never officially accomplished. This ordinance completes that process.
