CITY PROPOSAL:
The City of Duluth does ordain:
Section 1. That ordinance 10485 passed and approved December 12, 2016, is hereby amended to increase the General Fund appropriation by $81,000 for a new total amended appropriation of $82,658,300 as follows:
Department 150 - Fire $81,000
Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This ordinance will increase the city’s general fund appropriation authority by $81,000 to provide funding for an additional housing inspector in the Life Safety Office of the Fire Department. The budget amendment will be paid from additional inspection fees generated by this new position. Current staffing levels are inadequate to meet inspection schedules. The new position is estimated to generate an additional $168,175 annually in inspection revenue.
