CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Duluth Ready Mix for the purchase and delivery of washed sand for street maintenance in year 2017, for an estimated total amount not to exceed one hundred thirty-two thousand, eight hundred forty-one dollars and fifty cents ($132,841.50), payable from General Fund 110, Public Works and Utilities 500, Street Maintenance 1920, Salt & Sand 5223, Sand 02.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Duluth Ready Mix, Inc., for the purchase and delivery of an estimated 10,570 tons of washed sand to be used by street maintenance in year 2017, for an amount not to exceed $132,841.50.
The purchasing division posted an invitation to bid on December 27, 2016, on the city’s website, requesting delivered pricing for three separate locations. The city received four bids by the closing date. After careful review, the purchasing agent determined the low bid was Duluth Ready Mix, Inc. at $12.45 per ton, an increase of $2.45 per ton from the 2016 price of $10.00 per ton.
