CITY PROPOSAL:

WHEREAS, the city of Duluth's parks and recreation volunteer program seeks to develop an online volunteer connector portal in partnership with Head of the Lakes United Way to mobilize and engage volunteers with various park partners to promote environmental stewardship, and

WHEREAS, the implementation of the online portal as described in the submitted grant application attached hereto as exhibit A, would provide volunteer teams, companies and youth programs connection to appropriate volunteer activities and local organizations, and

WHEREAS, the city of Duluth seeks to expand its volunteer recruitment by 450 through public awareness, online portal utilization, and volunteer placement, and

WHEREAS, Head of the Lakes United Way is a respected resource for volunteer connection and desires to work in partnership with the city of Duluth for implementation of this online portal at no cost to the city.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth agrees to accept the grant award and the proper city officials are authorized to execute a grant agreement with ServeMinnesota substantially in the form of the Volunteer Generation Grant Agreement, attached hereto as exhibit B, agreeing to the project with grant funds to be deposited into fund 205-130-1219-4270 (Parks Fund, Community Resources, Parks Operating, Other Grants).

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth estimates the total project cost to be $16,667, including the grant amount of $10,000 as well as matching funds as follows: $1,000 from in-kind staff resources from Head of the Lakes United Way, a local non-profit 501(c)(3), $3,000 from city of Duluth fund 110-121-1217-2145-5000 (General Fund, Public Administration, Maintenance Operations, P...
