CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute and implement a contract with, and accept funds from, St. Louis County to provide Minnesota family investment program and diversionary work program employment and training services in an amount not less than $926,445 for the period January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017. Monies received under this agreement will be deposited in and paid from Fund 268 (workforce development), Agency 031 (grants division), Organization 6235 (MFIP) and 6236 (DWP)

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution is to authorize proper city officials to enter into an agreement and accept funds from St. Louis County in order to provide employment and training services to participants in the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) and Diversionary Work Program (DWP) in an amount not less than $926,445 as shown in the budget which compromises Exhibit B of the agreement, for the period January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017. Monies received under this agreement will be deposited in and paid from Fund 268 (workforce development), Agency 031 (grants division), Organization 6235 (MFIP) and 6236 (DWP).

 

City of Duluth Workforce Development has been contracting with St. Louis County to provide employment and training services for over 30 years. The 2017 contract amount of $926,445 is $18,223 more than the 2016 contract. Duluth Workforce Development Job Counselors support in excess of 600 individuals annually.
