RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of instrument specialist (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on February 7, 2017, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 32, $4,578 to $5,396 per month. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The new classification of instrument specialist has been created to account for the growing responsibilities of the instrument technician role, create an additional promotional opportunity and to allow for smoother job transition facing future vacancies or retirements. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 32, $4,578 to $5,396 per month.
