RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY’S 2016 WATER SUPPLY PLAN.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that that the City of Duluth hereby approves the City of Duluth Water Supply Plan Third Generation 2016, attached hereto as Exhibit A, pursuant to DNR Permit No. 1981-2066 as required by Minnesota Statutes Section 103G.291 Subd. 3 and proper city staff is hereby authorized to execute the Certification of Adoption attached hereto as Exhibit B.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to approve the 2016 version of the City’s 2016 Water Supply Plan and the certification thereof to MnDNR, all as required by State statute.
Minnesota Statutes Section 103G.291 Subd. 3 requires that the City develop and adopt a water supply plan which addresses projected demands, adequacy of the water supply system and planned improvements, existing and future water sources, natural resource impacts or limitations, emergency preparedness, water conservation, supply and demand reduction measures, and allocation priorities that are consistent with State law. It further requires that the plan be updated every 10 years.
Staff has updated the City’s existing plan and it has been reviewed and approved by the appropriate DNR officials. The Council now needs to approve it and to authorize the execution of a certification thereof to MnDNR.
