CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to purchase one (1) 2017 Elgin Pelican NP Dual Three-Wheel Street Sweeper from MacQueen Equipment in the amount of $218,795.67, payable from fund 250-015-2017-5580 (Capital Equipment-Public Administration-Fiscal Year 2017-Capital Equipment).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of one (1) 2017 Elgin Pelican NP Dual Three-Wheel Street Sweeper in the amount of $218,795.67.
This purchase is to replace Unit 3266, an Elgin Pelican Street Sweeper purchased in 2002. A 2014-2015 Fleet study found that City’s total cost of vehicle ownership is reduced when street maintenance vehicles of this type are traded in, repurposed, or auctioned when reaching eight (8) years of age. Unit 3266, purchased for $116,688.00, has exceeded this recommended replacement age by seven (7) years and has incurred $168,631.52 in maintenance costs to date. It is the oldest street sweeper in the fleet, is in need of major repairs, and will be sold at auction.
This purchase is against Minnesota State Contract 103153, Release S-843(5).
